Our Review
Amba Estate is a small organic farm run by Beverly Wainwright. She works with several local women to pluck and make hand rolled artisanal tea.
Dry Leaves Dark leaves with tea flowers scattered throughout. Since it is hand rolled, the leaves are not as tightly twisted as most other teas.
Liquor A medium brown liquor with orange hues.
Aroma There are notes of honey, citrus and dried fruit with hints mango and marzipan.
Caffeine Level Caffeinated
Body With the big leaves, this tea is a light bodied black tea.
Flavors The citrus flavors combine with some sweetness like liquorice and honey. There are subtle floral notes.
Brewing Time 4 to 5 minutes
Brewing Temperature 212° F

Amba Ceylon

We came across this little gem late last year. It is from a group of Sri Lankan women that work with a former British aid worker to make very interesting hand made teas. So, this is sort of “direct aid”.

A lovely tea
Average Review:

Both Ceylon and Darjeeling teas are among my favorites, and this is my favorite Ceylon. There is no bitterness, and it packs quite a flavor.

My earlier review mentioned the shop in CT. My mom corrected me. She went to the shop on Rte. 22 in NY (near CT).

Aromatic and delicious
Average Review:

My new favorite tea. My previous Harney favorite was Osmanthis Oolong. When my mom tried to refill my tin at the CT store, Mrs. Harney herself recommended this tea. Thank you!!! It is very unique; smooth, aromatic, slightly sweet, yet brisk and utterly delicious! Helping Sri Lankan women is a wonderful bonus. Love, love, love!
