This full-bodied yet mellow tea is a great way to welcome the sun each morning. We have chosen Kenya and Kenilworth for this blend. The golden tips of Milima are reminiscent of Assam and the bold leaves of Ceylon's Kenilworth are very mellow.

About Big Red Sun

Dry Leaves This is a blend of two teas. The Kenilworth, a big-leaf Ceylon, accounts for the larger leaves in this blend. Also there are some golden tips from the Kenyan tea.
Liquor A medium brown.
Aroma A nice blended aroma of honey with lemon tones. There are also faint clove spice notes.
Caffeine Level Caffeinated
Body This is a nicely fulfilling body; your mouth is full, but not too full.
Flavors The mellow dark honey flavors of the Kenilworth are complemented by the citrus and spice of the Kenyan Milima.

Brewing Temperature 212° F
Our Review
One of the classic BLT blends (British Legacy Teas) is the marriage of Ceylon and India to make a strong tea that can handle milk and sugar. This version creatively recombines to be the tea of Ceylon and Kenya. The Kenyan style of tea-making resembles the Indian tea used in that blend. It makes any time that you see the Big Red Sun rise a very pleasant time!

I love Big Red Sun! It is bold yet not over bearing. I love to use it for sweetened iced tea. There is no tea that can touch this wonderful black tea!

I love this tea. It's a wonderful breakfast tea which you can add milk to. A rich flavor and not bitter at all.I missed it from your line up for a while and was very worried that you had stopped making it. What would I do for tea??? But I'm happy to see it back.

I have sampled many of the teas that Harney & Sons has to offer, but this tea keeps calling me back. I am a black tea drinker, and this is my tea of choice every single day. Very full-bodied, but crisp and clean tasting, never muddy. A black tea with no rival.

The BEST!

I normally buy my Big Red Sun in a little store in Portland ME and when they were out on my last visit I nearly cried! How I miss the sun when it's not around! Nothing else comes close! Thank you Harney & Sons for the obvious care and skill in your blends!

This is one of my favorite breakfast teas. It is very rich and mellow. When I first taste it, I get hints of vanilla and butterscotch. I think a coffee drinker might like Big Red Sun.
