This weekend is a very special one here at the shop! It is our General Manager, Emeric Harney’s birthday on Saturday! To celebrate, we are hosting a flight of teas that he has not only participated in with blending, but have inspired him. Please come by, wish Emeric a happy birthday, and sample our flight of teas at the tasting bar including: Matcha iri Genmaicha, Brigitte’s Blend, and Birthday tea.
Emeric created this blend in 2009, hoping to entice tea drinkers that not only love the taste of toasty rice but can appreciate a full-bodied green. Matcha is a beloved tea in Japan, but sometimes it alone can be overpowering. Blended with Bancha leaves, brown rice, and Matcha powder, Matcha iri Genmaicha is one of our most requested green tea blends. Come taste and find out why!
Named after the wife of Mike Harney and mother to the three Harney grandchildren, Brigitte’s Blend is an elegant mixture of silver Ceylon tips and Golden Assam tips. Emeric and his mother Brigitte share a special bond that goes beyond mother and son, and as inspiration to him it only makes sense we feature this tea in our flight this weekend! A perfect black tea for any situation, whether its to wake you up or to enjoy with an afternoon scone.
Originally created in honor of Master Tea Blender John Harney’s 80th birthday, we are featuring this decaffeinated tea in honor of his grandson, Emeric!
