Millerton’s Flight of Teas! February 16th & 17th

Whenever we describe a tea as having “notes of honey,” customers are always intrigued.  A lot of people, before entering the world of fine tea, have grown up adding sugar or honey to their cuppa.  We love to show people that when you have a quality tea, and brew it well, the inherent sugars in the tea create a sweet liquor.

Mangalam Full-Leaf Assam is a milder example of a classic Assam, with an abundance of golden tips that create a sweeter taste.

Golden Monkey is a Chinese black tea from the northern Fujian provence.  This tea is a favorite among us and our customers alike.  The large twisted leaves develop into a smooth brew, while the golden buds, with a hint of roasting, develop a caramel-like flavor.

Elyse’s Blend is named after two of John Harney’s honeys, his daughter and his wife of 60 years.  This black tea blend has been flavored with honey, and while not technically sweetened, it is reminiscent of adding that golden nectar to your cup.

I don’t understand the description of Elyse’s Blend. If it’s “flavored with honey” then it has a sweetener added to it, right? Honey = sweetener. So why isn’t it “technically sweetened”?

I apologize for the confusion. “Flavored with honey” might not have been the right phrase of words. The tea has a honey flavor added to it, not actual honey. Thank you for pointing that out to me.
