Millerton’s Flight of Teas! February 23rd & 24th

February 22, 2013

In honor of Alex Harney’s return from his trip to India with his girlfriend Caitrin, we are featuring a pair of teas that showcase the different flavors from the different tea-growing regions of Inda.

In the Nilgiri tea-growing region of southern India, Alex and Caitrin visited the Korakundah estate.

At this estate, they produce an organic and Fair Trade tea that we offer as Korakundah FOP.  The FOP stands for Flowery Orange Pekoe, which denotes a leaf grade that indicates that it is a high-quality tea with long leaves and few tips.  This produces a full, but mellow brew that can be enjoyed at any time of day.

Further north, in the mountainous landscape of Darjeeling, the teas develop a distinctive ‘Muscatel’ fruity flavor.  Mike Harney describes how these flavors develop in his post about Second Flush Darjeelings.  We are featuring Jungpana 2nd Flush Darjeeling, which has a similar body to the Korakundah, but with a much livelier flavor.

In addition to the Indian teas, we are featuring a number of Chinese green teas that are are full of wonderful delicate flavors.  The teas we are tasting are currently on sale for 30% off.  If you have the opportunity to visit the shop this weekend, we will be varying which green tea we are brewing throughout the day, so you could have a taste before purchasing.  If you can’t make it to us, feel free to visit the sale online.
