Darjeeling Teas
This great tea region is the source of some of the best teas in the world. The First Flush Season starts in March and yields a greenish, brisk tea full of flavor. In May and June, the Second Flush produces a browner, more mellow tea, still full of special flavor. We always choose teas that are light, bright, and flavorful.
What is a First Flush Darjeeling? A First Flush Darjeeling is a tea harvested in the Darjeeling Region. It is picked from the new growth of leaves, or first flush, of the season. The tea plants are grown at an altitude of between 2,000 and 6,000 feet. Picking begins in February and ends in April. The teas are greener and more aromatic than Second Flush. The Second Flush Darjeelings are picked from May until the rains of the Monsoons arrive in June.
