About Decaf Ceylon (aka Decaf Orange Pekoe)

Dry Leaves	Dark brown choppy leaves.
Liquor	Medium brown, with deep red hues.
Aroma	Slight and subtle aromas of honey.
Caffeine Level	Decaffeinated
Body	This is a light bodied tea.
Flavors	This light honey notes are subdued by the decaffeination process, which washes out some of the flavors.
Brewing Time	4 to 5 minutes
Brewing Temperature	212° F

Our Review

For our loose Decaf, we commissioned a German factory to remove the caffeine from full leaf Ceylon tea. It would be a nice mellow tea anyway, and this is accentuated by the Supercritical carbon dioxide decaffeination process. The carbon dioxide gas (like you exhale) is put under pressure an becomes a liquid, which washes over the dry tea and removes the caffeine. The tea is then dried. For our teabags, the caffeine is removed from broken leaf Ceylon tea. The liquid (natural ethyl acetate) flushes the dry tea and removes the caffeine. Then, in an oven, the tea is dried.

The only decaf I'll drink

Indeed, this is the only decaf that tastes like tea, not some watered down flavored beverage.

No bitterness if brewed right (I do 3 1/2 minutes), it has a smoothness like my favorite Ceylon, Kenilworth Gardens. This is the one to "go to" for that last cup before bedtime.

I often can't drink regular tea (makes me too jazzed), so this mellow tea is a lovely staple for me. I keep the tea leaves in the pot and enjoy how the successive cups get more and more complex.

The flavor in this tea is very subtle. I like to brew it for iced tea, as I believe that the cold enhances the flavor and milk would only mask the flavor.

This Tea is an Eye Opener

-- just not a wide-awake in the middle of the night eye-opener. I never knew a black tea could be...delicious... is the word that comes to mind. It's rich, comforting and simply invites another sip. I'm not used to tea tasting like this...I want more.

Just like a good cuppa I used to have in England

I cannot say enough good things about this tea! I love it and can't get enough of it. Coming back to America after having a taste of English tea was rough considering what some people claim to be tea around here! It tricks me into thinking I'm drinking regular not decaf and this is the only tea in America that I enjoy. This tea has a smooth full bodied flavor and no bitter after taste!! Enjoy!

Pleasing decaffeinated tea

This is the perfect tea for when you want limited caffeine with full-bodied black tea flavor. There is no negative aftertaste as found in more commercial decaffeinated black teas.
