Elaine's Blend

Little did Elaine Cogan realize she was launching the tea revolution when her complaints about the poor quality of restaurant tea were printed in the New York Times in 1983. In response the Times printed an editorial entitled Tea Snobs and Coffee Bigots. John Harney and Elaine became friends, as they spread the word about good tea. They are suprised and gratified at the success of the tea revolution. Elaine created her own Special Blend, a smooth tea that is refreshing all times of day or night. It is a unique combination of fine Darjeeling, Keemun, Ceylon and Assam.

Our Review
Our Founder, John Harney, thinks very fondly of Elaine Cogan of Portland, Oregon. They were both tea enthusiasts in the early '80s, throwing bombs against the established order of boring tea served poorly. Decades later, he asked her to do a tea. This is the refreshing result.

my favorite cup

Made strong with a little milk and no sugar, my favorite. Forgives a little forgetful oversteeping also.

If Elaine is anything like this tea, she must be a deligtful lady.

Another wonderful blend from H & S. If Elaine Cogan is anything like this tea, she must be a delightful, chipper and spirited lady. This is one I'd drink all day alone or with additions. A remarkable balance of brightness, astringency and rounded mellowness in a fragrant liquor.

Brisk, No Nonsense, But with a Sense of Humour
Average Review:

When I drink Elaine's Blend, I picture Elaine as a bookish gal with brown hair and those nerdy glasses that can be so unexpectedly sexy. That's what kind of tea this is. More complex that you might think at first taste. Not flighty, lyrical, or fancy, but with a surprisingly sensuous full-bodied taste that makes a comforting, fortifying drink when dosed with a little milk. A drink that reminds you 'Where there is tea, there is hope'.

A good drinking tea
Average Review:

I'm always willing to try new tea blends, but I always seem to come back to this one for a daily pot of tea. It's always just right with milk and sugar, but it's also a very good iced tea.

perfect cup

I love Elaine! It is my favorite tea. I like to change up the ratio- less tea or more water for the perfect cup. Takes milk beautifully.

This is one of if not my favorite blend. When I want a wonderous pot of just plain Heaven in a pot...I get this tea out. Goes with everything.
