Irish Breakfast

100% Assam, like most traditional Irish blends, this is a good way to start your morning. Like cereal, it takes milk and sugar well. In contrast to other vendors, ours is a little more refined.

About Irish Breakfast

Dry Leaves Dark brown leaves.
Liquor A medium-dark brown liquor.
Aroma This has some of the malty aromas found in other Assams. However, since it is a smaller tea and there are no tips, the aromas seem to be muted.
Caffeine Level Caffeinated
Body This has very good body. It is usually drunk with milk. Of course the Irish would have it no other way.
Flavors This is usually drunk with milk and sugar, so the flavors harmonize well with them. There are subtle notes of roast malt.
Brewing Time 4 to 5 minutes
Brewing Temperature 212° F
Our Review
The Harneys have been out of Ireland for sometime, so our Irish Breakfast is an older version. This tea recalls a time when the teas came from Assam, not Africa; and were small broken leaves, not CTC pellets. So this is a simple tea that can handle milk and sugar well.

Very Irish
Average Review:

Barry's is the quintessential Irish tea blend that my relatives imbibe daily by potfuls. The tea carries the same rich aroma and a very similar flavor; Harney & Sons blend is subtler and less acidic. Very pleasant. As someone who doesn't add milk or sugar, it's a welcome improvement over the often too robust Barry's. (Heresy!)

No better morning tea
Average Review:

It's a strong, bold tea that tastes amazing with milk. No other tea wakes you up better with a splash of milk.

Big Bold Tea
Average Review:

I love the Irish Breakfast. It's full of body, smells like "waking up" and is great with a spot of milk and sugar. Nothing like it!

Nice way to start the morning
Average Review:

I am a lover of Harney's Scottish Morn, but wanted to find something that was a bit more refined for mid-morning or afternoon. I decided to try this and love this as well! So now some mornings I drink my Scottish Morn and others I have my Irish Breakfast! I enjoy them both.

Great morning brew
Average Review:

This tea is similar to H&S CTC Assam, strong and dark it is a good morning coffee substitute. I think this ones smoother than CTC Assam, but not as strong. I would recommend this before CTC Assam though as most people don't seem to be prepared for the strength of the Assam. Also Scottish Morn is a great alternative as well; that said I think Irish Breakfast is the Best of the three.

Perfect Breakfast Tea
Average Review:

This is an excellent traditional tea to start off the day. A little sugar and a drop of cream adds the perfect touch.

I was looking for a coffee alternative, tried Harney's Irish Breakfast Tea and haven't looked
back, that was 3 years ago. I have 4 cups every morning with a splash of milk and love the
