About Mangalam FTGFOP Or. 644

Dry Leaves A mix of twisted burnt sienna leaves and golden buds, each about a 1/2" long.
Liquor The clear liquor is a rich, red brown caramel.
Aroma The aromas are sweet and toasty, like white toast spread with dark raw honey.
Caffeine Level Caffeinated
Body Full bodied, although lighter than other Assams, because of all the golden tips.
Flavors Signature brisk, mellow toasted flavors like a dark honey or a light molasses.
Brewing Time 4 to 5 minutes
Brewing Temperature 212° F
Our Review
This beautiful, potent tea is one of the best Assams. Mangalam tea is named after Kumar Mangalam Birla, once the son of the owner. Now Mr. Birla (Managalam to us) runs Jayshree Tea and Industries which is known for its great Assams and Darjeelings. Jayshree is heralded in the tea world for its special tea clones that produce tea with a big golden tip. You can identify Jayshree Assams by the dark, golden tips. The Second Flush (May and June) is the best time for Assams. People (especially Mike) just love the taste of the strong sophisticated tea.

worth the price

one of the few Assams that actually live up to the hype given it. Real Assam taste, no bitterness. This is pretty much the only tea I would by again from Harney&Sons.
