Supreme Breakfast Tea

Fantastic teas from India and China are combined to create this Breakfast Blend. A wonderful tippy Assam gives it full body that is then smoothed by the rich distinctive flavor of Hao Ya 'B' Keemun.

Our Review
There have been two schools of Breakfast teas. First there were the black teas from China, which were intense yet still had some mellowness. Then when the English started making teas in Assam, India, the teas definitely became more assertive and brisk. Paul Harney came up with this blend that combines the best of both schools. It has been a hit ever since.

Looks like I'm alone on my opinion here.

I have to say, I haven't found this tea to be very enjoyable. Maybe I am not steeping it correctly or for long enough, but it has kind of a bland flavor. Definitely not getting what I am reading from others above.

The first taste I want to experience, in the morning.

I don't, normally, do reviews, but this blend is so very exceptional... I prefer traditional English and Irish black teas (with milk, of course!). When I'm drinking Keemun I miss the malt of Assam; when I'm drinking Assam I miss the earthy smoke of old China. When I'm drinking Supreme Breakfast, I miss nothing and have no regrets. God Bless Paul Harney!!

Surprised by the smoke
Average Review:

Brewed my first cup of this blend today. Water: 212F, 8 oz. Tea: one teaspoon. Warmed mug, warmed pot. Brewed 5 minutes. Enjoyed the lovely, not too complex aroma from the tea, tried some with milk and decided it was better without. Was surprised at the persistence of the light smoky note; after a minute in the mug, that was the predominant aroma.

Excellent Balance of Assam & Keemun
Average Review:

Supreme Breakfast is a very full-bodied, well-rounded blend. I find that it requires neither milk nor sugar to be fully enjoyed, though a very conservative amount of either is fine. In general I find Assam teas to be very round, earthy, soft, straightforward and robust, whereas Keemun teas have a thinner, darker, dryer, more rigid yet subtler character, occasionally too astringent for my taste. Supreme Breakfast is an excellent combination of these two teas. The hearty Assam softens the rigidity of the Keemun, removes its slight smokiness and rounds its edges without overwhelming its more subtle flavor, and the piercing quality of the Keemun cuts through the Assam’s simple, almost corpulent body to add a more nuanced taste and a much more interesting finish than either tea has on its own. It’s as if the Keemun is providing mature guidance and structure to the jolly, playful Assam in a shared quest to overwhelm your taste buds with flavor and depth. I highly recommend this tea.

The Quintessential Black Tea
Average Review:

This tea is robust and, in my opinion, extremely versatile. It is smooth enough to be brewed strong enough to stand a spoon up in it without taking on bitter or astringent qualities. It also brews beautifully into a lighter tea that can be enjoyed without any accoutrement. I brew this up strong enough to prop open my eyes in the morning and enjoy it a little lighter with milk and sugar in the afternoon. It also made a lovely iced tea. An all around winner.

The perfect morning tea
Average Review:

The aroma alone is enough reason to purchase this. It has been a standard in my house for years and is a particularly good one for introducing the tea ritual to those who only know tea from the grocery store.

Wow, this is tea
Average Review:

My husband and I are doing a tour of various breakfast teas. This is exactly what I was looking for. A strong black tea with no bitterness. Nice aroma - I had never really noticed tea aroma before. Seemingly lots of caffeine as well. Great boost to get started for the day. We had tried Royal English Breakfast before this one and liked it, but think Supreme Breakfast is the best. I will definitely be purchasing this again.
