One of the finest examples of Federal Period architecture in the state of New York, this home was built for the prominent lawyer and politician, James Vanderpoel. It is currently being adapted from a house museum to the Center for Columbia County History..... a living museum that will include exhibition galleries, educational space for children and adults, restored period rooms, an expanded research facility and a stimulating learning and gathering site for the residents of the County and visitors at large.
Vanderpoel Tea
Tea, introduced to the American colonies by the Dutch, was first brought into the port of New Amsterdam (New York, today). This exclusive tea, blended to reflect the tea imported in the Vanderpoel era, pays homage to that history and acknowledges the strong Dutch heritage of Columbia County and its significant role in the history of the Hudson River Valley. Proceeds from the sale of this tea will benefit the Center for Columbia County History.
