If Keemuns are the aristocrats of Chinese black teas, Yunnan black teas could be considered the frugal yet happy cousins from another region. Earthy to the point of being almost vigorously assertive, Yunnan teas have a maple sweetness that wins you over with charm. Typical of many Yunnan teas, Yunnan Golden Tips features a mixture of dull gold buds and black leaves (also known as Dianhong).

 Details: Yunnan black teas come from the remote region of China down near the borders with Laos and Burma. This is where tea is thought to have originated. Much of the tea in this region is aged to make Pu-Erhs.
 Dry Leaves: Long, twisted leaves that are faded gold with bits of black.

 Aroma: An earthiness characteristic of most Yunnan teas, with sweetness of maple syrup. There are hints of spice.
