Certain tea plants grown on the plains of Assam have big apical buds (also known as tips). If those tips were air dried, they would become white. However, when the buds are rolled and oxidized, they turn a wonderful golden color. And, like white tea, they have above average amounts of plant sugars and amino acids. This makes for great tasting honey flavors for all of us to enjoy.
The Daga family of the Halmari Estate have made this custom tea for us. And it is the pride of Assam this year.
