For many many years the indigenous people in South America harvested and drank this herbal concoction. They found it kept them alert. This tradtion was passed down to the Gaucho cowboys later on. Now, we are finding Yerba Maté to be enjoyable and useful.
This is a relatively good Maté, but a sachet is absolutely the wrong way to drink it, and the four ounce tin barely gives one enough for three gourds. Maté brewed like traditional tissane loses half its flavor. (Posted on 9/23/13)
