Our Review
The Harneys, being of Irish heritage, did not offer a Scottish tea until now. Our friends at the American-Scottish Foundation asked us to do two teas. Our first attempt was a strong tea. They said it was nice, but please make it a wee bit stronger.
Dry Leaves A mixture of dark brown leaves, the smaller pieces of Assam and Ceylon and Assam CTC (cut, tear, curl) method make for a stronger tea.
Liquor This is one of our darkest teas, brewing a very dark brown color. Many Scots would lighten it with milk.
Aroma Aroma is not the point of this tea, so there are only hints of suggestions of malt.
Caffeine Level Caffeinated
Body This is the purpose of this tea, and it delivers a very full bodied tea. It is perhaps the strongest tea we offer.
Flavors Strong and simple, this tea is meant to be drunk with milk.
Brewing Time 5 minutes
Brewing Temperature 212° F

Scottish Morn is a strong tea, perhaps our very strongest. When you stand up your spoon in this tea, it might just stand straight. A portion of Scottish Morn & Scottish Afternoon sales goes to support the charitable endeavors of the American Scottish Foundation. Loose tea, 1 lb bag.

Wakey, wakey, laddie.

I do like English Breakfast tea. Properly done, it’s a genteel way of starting one’s morning, like being awakened by a refined English butler making small talk as the fog lifts.

This is not that sort of tea.

This is a bit like having a ticked-off Scotsman bellowing in your face at the crack of dawn—not necessarily unpleasant, but definitely squelching any thought of dozing off.

So yes, it’s a strong tea, with a malty, smoky undertone that takes milk and sugar well. It’s a very drinkable, no-nonsense tea that makes coffee blink and say, “Dude, you are INTENSE.” Highly recommended.
