Our Review
Lapsangs comes from The Wuyi Mountains (WuyiShan) in the northeastern part of Fujian Province. This was where black teas were first developed (called Bohea.) In the steeply forested mountains wood was plentiful, so it came naturally to smoke tea like bacon. The leaves were slowly withered to create a complex tea, then the leaves were slowly dried in rooms with a smoky fire below.

It's like liquid campfire!
Average Review:

A previous reviewer commented that this is the Lagavulin of tea. I couldn't agree more with the assessment. If you're a fan of Isle scotch, this is the tea for you. It is very smokey but the flavor is very mild and nicely balanced. It's like liquid campfire!

Sitting by the campfire!

This tea is very smoky, I didn't expect it at first, but it has become one of my favorites, not an everyday tea. I usually drink this on cold rainy days, it is quite warming. You would be hard pressed to find something that will warm you as quickly as a cup of lapsang souchong.

Sick day tea
Average Review:

I wanted to love this tea, but as a southern girl raised to drink sweet iced tea all year long, with hot tea added to our diet in the winter, it was a bit much for me. Too smokey, too piney, too much. That is, until I caught a cold and was looking through my tea drawer for something to make me feel better. I thought to give this tea another try. What a different experience. The very things that seemed too heavy before now were very comforting and cut through my foggy brain. Now, sometimes, I will pull this tea out while I am well, it is my go to tea if I am under the weather. I am so glad I gave it another try.

perfection
Average Review:

i bought this tea for my mother on a whim as a gift for her birthday. she grew up drinking tea and lapsang souchong has remained her favorite. she past that love of tea onto me. a good lapsang is hard to come by, but this one is perfect.it's one of the lighter black teas, and has a natural sweetness which goes along with that smoky flavor so well.

The Lagavulin of Teas
Average Review:

This tea reminds me of my favorite scotch - Lagavulin. I'm drinking it as I write this review. My wife hates it. I love it. The smoky, peaty flavor is as smooth as a canoe gliding on a lake on a misty morning. When there's no time for a cigar and a scotch, why not fire up a strong cup of lapsang souchong? It's much more interesting than anything you'll find at the Dunkin. I would give it five stars, but I hear there's some lapsang in China that never makes it way over here. I'll reserve a little room for that fifth star should I ever get the opportunity to drink it.

smoky!
Average Review:

A wonderful smoky aroma, as if you are at a campfire. However, it doesnt taste much like tea rather than a cup of smoke flavoring. If youre into that, you may enjoy it. I have tried adding it to recipes with decent success.

Dark and Smoky

This tea reminds me of the smell of really good barbeque. The taste I think would appeal to coffee drinkers. Also it blends well with other less assertive teas.

A smoky sipping tea
Average Review:

I sampled this tea in the store, and I loved it. The aroma of the dry leaves was smoked salmon like. It tasted very mellow and smoky, an almost barbeque flavor. It was surprisingly delicious, and I liked the complexity of the flavor as I sipped. It has a similar smokiness to the Russian Country tea, but I prefer the less brisk taste of this one.
