Description

Scottish Morn is our strongest breakfast tea, a black blend of small-leaf Assam, Ceylon, and Assam CTC built to be drunk the way the Scots drink it, strong and lightened with milk. It brews one of the darkest cups we make, full-bodied with a malty backbone, and it does not flinch when the milk goes in.

The Harneys, being of Irish heritage, did not offer a Scottish tea until our friends at the American-Scottish Foundation® asked us to make two. Our first attempt was a strong tea. They said it was nice, but to please make it a wee bit stronger. A portion of Scottish Morn and Scottish Afternoon sales supports the Foundation's charitable endeavors.

When you stand your spoon up in this tea, it might just stand straight. See all our Scottish blends.

Details: The Harneys, being of Irish heritage, did not offer a Scottish tea until now. Our friends at the American-Scottish Foundation asked us to do two teas. Our first attempt was a strong tea. They said it was nice, but to please make it a wee bit stronger.
Dry Leaves: A mixture of dark brown leaves, the smaller pieces of Assam and Ceylon, and the Assam CTC (cut, tear, curl) make for a stronger tea.
Liquor: This is one of our darkest teas, brewing a very dark brown color. Many Scots would lighten it with milk.
Aroma: Aroma is not the point of this tea, so there are only hints of malt.
Flavors: Strong and simple, this tea is meant to be drunk with milk.
 Caffeine Level: Caffeinated
Body: Full-bodied. A strong, full body is the purpose of this tea, and it delivers. It is perhaps the strongest tea we offer.
 Brewing Time: 5 minutes
 Brewing Temp: 212º

FAQ

What is the strongest tea you make?

Scottish Morn is perhaps the strongest tea we offer. A strong, full body is the whole point of this blend, and it brews one of the darkest cups we make.

What's in Scottish Morn?

Small-leaf Assam, Ceylon, and Assam CTC. CTC stands for cut, tear, curl, a way of processing the leaf into small pieces that make for a stronger cup.

Is it a Scottish breakfast tea?

Yes. It is built to be drunk the way the Scots drink their morning tea, strong and lightened with milk. Aroma is not the point here; there are only hints of malt. The flavor is strong and simple.

Does Scottish Morn have caffeine?

Yes. It is a black tea, with about 40 to 60 mg of caffeine per cup.

How is it different from Scottish Afternoon?

Scottish Afternoon is slightly more aromatic and lighter, though still a strong tea. We blend both for the American-Scottish Foundation®, and a portion of their sales supports the Foundation's charitable endeavors.
