Description

On one of our trips to Sri Lanka, our friend Buddika made this tea at his small factory in Ratnapura. Buddika, who was born and raised in Kandy, Sri Lanka, began his career as a trainee tea planter for 17 years before deciding to transition into his own project of producing artisanal teas. Skilled tea artisans carefully pluck and process these leaves by hand. Its rich character lingers on the palate, evoking the untamed essence of Sri Lanka’s highland forests, where the tea is grown on 40-foot-tall trees! Big Ceylon leaves are tied around a vanilla bean, creating a delicious brew.

Black tea.

Good...not great

This makes a lovely tea with cream (oat milk is my preference). But it's pretty expensive for a tea that's cool to watch in a glass teapot or mug, but not as interesting in my mugs where I don't see the leaves unfurl. And if I'm craving a vanilla tea, I'd rather have Vanilla Comoro Decaf - one of my absolute favorites!

Mediocre and Expensive

What they don't tell you is that there are only 9 rods in the tin. Not much taste to this tea. And even at it's sale price, it's way too expensive for 9 cups of tea.

Disappointing

The tea leaves arent bad on flavor but they did not have any kind of special taste to me at all. Just a smooth black tea. I could not taste any vanilla at all. I tried brewing it the correct way with boiling water over the rod. I also tried it crushed up into a loose leaf infuser. Neither brought out any significant flavors and i wont be buying again.

Worth the Try!

If I were to describe the flavor: it is light tea with light vanilla notes. Be warned of preparation of the tea to boil it hot enough, and only use one cup per Rod. This would be a great tea to always keep on hand if you like vanilla with a light black-tea AND... have the money available to buy it. I have no regrets in buying it HOWEVER I may not buy it again myself due to my financial choices (AKA: i would if I were rich). 9 rods for 24 (keep in mind this is priced appropriate for what it is in its uniqueness)

Absolutely delightful

I brewed a pitcher then chilled it in the fridge. Then I served it to my friends and they absolutely loved it. We all thought it was refreshing and delicious and it's great how one cup of quality tea put a smile on all of our faces.
