Beyond the Blend: Hot Cinnamon Spice

Benjamin Franklin once wrote what has become a famous saying: “Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency;  but in this world, nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” While we hold the words of Mr. Franklin in great esteem, we would like to amend his statement to say this: “...nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and the people’s great love and affection for Harney Hot Cinnamon Spice tea.”

Hot Cinnamon Spice tea (also known around these parts as “HCS”) is our number one bestselling tea. It is Hall of Fame worthy and the Miss Congeniality of teas -- universally beloved, the tea everyone wants to sit next to at lunch. Fans rave about it and somewhere, we are certain, songs have been written about it. We are asked on a regular basis if we add sugar to it because it’s so perfectly sweet. We do not. HCS is strictly a blend of black teas, three types of cinnamon, orange peel, and cloves. Simple, straightforward, delicious. Oh, and it’s kosher, too.

The thing is, people love it so much that they often refuse to try anything else, steadfastly sticking to their tried-and-true favorite with no interest in going “beyond the blend” if you will. There’s good news for the HCS faithful, however: there are other varieties of Hot Cinnamon Spice to entice and delight the palate. Let’s take a little field trip into the world of other types of HCS teas that will allow even the most devoted to expand beyond the blend they love.

Green Hot Cinnamon Spice. If you’ve been interested in adding green tea to your daily routine because of its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and more, but just can’t give up your traditional Hot Cinnamon Spice… guess what? You can have both. All the cinnamon, cloves and orange peel you’ve come to expect, but made with a Chinese green tea base. Saddle up, green tea wannabes, we’ve got you covered. And yep, it’s still kosher, just like our traditional HCS with black tea.

Hot Apple Spice. This blend is Hot Cinnamon Spice and then some! Start with the HCS basics of black tea, cinnamon flavor, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and orange peel. Then add apple pieces, apple flavor, and cinnamon pieces for a tea that is bursting with apples and spice, and everything nice!

Herbal Hot Cinnamon Spice. As you may know, herbal teas, or tisanes, or not really “tea” as they do not hail from the mother tea plant species, the  Camellia sinensis. That does not make them any less awesome, however, and certainly, herbal tea was worthy of the popular HCS treatment. We swapped out the black tea base for the South African herb rooibos, praised around the world for its flavor, red hue, and beneficial properties like antioxidants. The classic HCS spices -- three types of cinnamon, orange peel, and cloves -- complete the blend.

Decaf Hot Cinnamon Spice. When you want the original but not the caffeine, Decaf HCS is here to save the day. Same formula as the original, except we use decaffeinated black tea, which means you can enjoy class HCS from sunup to sundown.

Pumpkin Spice. Pumpkin fans, rejoice! We’ve taken the traditional spices of HCS and tweaked them slightly, keeping the cinnamon and cloves but replacing the orange peel with nutmeg to make a perfect complement to the sweet earthiness of pumpkin. And instead of a blend of black tea, the base for Pumpkin Spice is rooibos, the same as we use in our Herbal HCS, so it’s decaf, too!

Hot Cinnamon Spice Iced Tea. When you want your Hot Cinnamon Spice to be cold, you’re just a twist of a cap away from “ahhhh” on a hot summer day. The original HCS brewed, bottled, and ready when you are.

Nitrogen Tea. Why did we add bubbles to our Hot Cinnamon Spice cold brew tea? Because we could, and because they’re fun, and because our customers deserve it! When we decided to create a draft tea in a convenient six-pack, of course, we turned to HCS for our first effervescent tea -- the spices dance on your tongue.

Center. Lovers of CBD tea deserve HCS, too! That’s why our sister company, The Hemp Division, created Center. It’s our traditional Hot Cinnamon Spice blend of black tea, cinnamon, orange peel, and cloves, with all-natural hemp extract added to the mix. All the deliciousness of HCS along with the goodness of CBD. You’re welcome.

Tea Bar. Oh yeah, we did. With the help of our friends at Fruition Chocolate, we combined everything you love about HCS with milk chocolate to create a life-changing chocolate bar that will leave you speechless.

Have we tempted you to go beyond the blend? Discover a new twist on an old favorite. Let us know what you tried and how you liked it in the comment section.

How about adding a custom sampler. We get to pick the collection. I’m not inclined to buy a pound of something I may not like but would like to be able to pick a bunch of different teas to find out what I might want to buy in larger quantities.

I see you have samplers but still want to pick my own.

I love HCS, but like to take it to a whole new level by mixing it 1:1 with Harney’s Cranberry Autumn. Both teas are excellent on their own, but create magic when blended together. My go-to tea every morning. Thank you for so many wonderful tea tastes!
