Beers to You, Dad! A Father’s Day Cocktail

Like we wrote in our  Mother’s Day post last month, we are a family-owned business, which means around here dads get  almost as much respect as moms. (Just  tea-sing, dads. You know we love ya!)

Dads can be notoriously hard to buy for, which is how neckties became the fruitcake of Father’s Day. And even if you get him a new pair of lounge pants for around the house because Mom thinks he scares the neighbors when he gets the paper in his stretched-out faves from college that threaten to fall down with every step, who can blame him if he still wants to wear them anyway. I mean, they’re comfy and there’s that pizza stain from that time when his favorite team upset their biggest rivals and he dropped a big slice on his lap right when they won in OT. That stain brings it all flooding back.

So when it comes to making dad feel special on his day, maybe give him something else he can cheer about. We think this Beer Tea Shandy is the perfect drink for beer- and tea-loving dads everywhere to kick back and enjoy. While that great father Homer Simpson famously said, “Beer. Now there’s a temporary solution,” we’re pretty sure this perfect summer concoction just might find a permanent place in Dad’s heart.

Beer Tea Shandy

What You Need:

  • 2 parts English Breakfast tea, cooled to room temp
  • 1 part your favorite IPA
  • Lemon

How to Make a Dandy Shandy

  1. Pour tea and IPA beer into a tall beer glass
  2. Squeeze fresh lemon juice into glass
  3. Garnish with lemon wedge
  4. Enjoy!

If beer’s not your dad’s thing-- after all, you wouldn’t want to give Dad something that would make him  hopping mad on Father’s Day-- check out other recipes and gift ideas below to find something sure to please. Whether it’s drinking tea, cooking with tea, working out with tea, barbequing with tea or just spending qualitea time with you.

For the home brewer, consider using Chocolate chai supreme tea in a porter. It was fantastic. So smooth, with the chai seasonings- an amazing beverage.
