Yaupon, or Ilex vomitoria, is the only wild-grown North American plant that is naturally caffeinated. It is grown on a small tree and thrives in coastal areas with sandy soils. Although Native Americans were the first to discover this hearty plant, yaupon was forgotten for many decades. This black tea was recently rediscovered and is now being sold around the world. The best part about yaupon is that it never gets bitter when you steep it, unlike other teas. Watch the video below and read on to learn more about this unique tea
We love helping tea drinkers around the world discover new teas and expand their horizons, that’s why we have partnered with CatSpring Yaupon to bring you the finest Texan yaupon. CatSpring Yaupon produces tea without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or synthetic weed control measures. Nothing touches this plant but sunshine and rainwater. Watch the video below to learn more about CatSpring Yaupon and the two sisters who rediscovered this forgotten tea.
