How to Dye Easter Eggs Naturally With Tea

While we love the bright colors associated with spring, there is something about the natural hues that appear this time of year that has us looking forward to warmer weather. This Easter, instead of soaking our eggs in store-bought dyes, we decided to embrace all that mother nature has to offer and steep them in our favorite flavors of tea. This experiment was so fun to do with family and friends and the colors and textures we got were completely unexpected. However, the best part about this whole thing was walking away without any dye staining our clothes or fingers! Watch the video below to learn how you can naturally dye eggs at home.

What You’ll Need

How to Dye Eggs With Tea

    1. Add 3 tps loose leaf tea to a jar, fill with hot water, then add 3 tbs of vinegar.
    2. Place a hard-boiled egg into tea mixture and let it sit overnight in the refrigerator.
    3. Remove eggs and pat dry.

Would you try dying your Easter eggs with tea this year instead of store-bought dyes? Let us know in the comments section and check out more recipes and crafts we love below:

I’ll dye eggs with teas this week. Thank you for the idea. I have colored eggs using fruits & vegetables but this seems much easier. I’m a fan of natural colors & Harney Tea.

This is a way better idea to do than with the dyes from the store.
