This was one of the first of the high mountain teas, from the Ali San area in the southern mountains of Taiwan. About 20 years ago, Taiwan's tea industry went through a radical change; they stopped producing the old teas that were exported to the west, and began focusing on these better oolongs made for the newly prosperous domestic market. Now we all can appreciate the lovely lemony and creamy flavors of this lightly oxidized oolong.
Ingredients: Oolong tea.
Dry Leaves: Dark green rolled leaves.
Liquor: Light gold.
Aroma: Potent gardenia and lilac aromas topped with notes of crystallized sugar and fresh citrus.
Flavors: Ali San is among the creamiest of oolongs. It gives a nice coating sensation and some butteriness along with lime citrus notes and a quiet, underlying vegetal flavor.
