Â
Our father, John Harney, started Harney & Sons in 1983. Shortly after, he brought us, two of his sons, into the business, and we continue to operate it today.Â
Diversity
The Tea World has always been very diverse. It is grown in many countries. We get it from 5 continents. Some of the countries are China, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, Mozambique, Argentina, France, and Italy. In the USA, we get teas from Louisiana, and Hawaii, peppermint from Washington State and buckwheat from Pennsylvania. And there are many countries that buy our teas. In fact, all 7 continents, including Antarctica, enjoy our tea. People of all races and creeds are our biggest fans. And there is a wide, wide selection of teas that are available. So, we thank all of our customers and suppliers.Â
Equity
Although tea brings smiles to our customers, tea has a bit of a sordid side. From colonial exploitation to todayâs social problems, growing tea does have a blemished record. We choose to dwell on the positive, so we assist people where we can. We contribute to 1% for the Planet. to improve the worldâs environment. We support Fair Trade in their goals of using a part of our tea purchases to improve the life of growers. In 2025, we raised enough money to help build a school in a very rural Tea Estate in Mozambique. One of our biggest contributions is to buy great tasting tea at fair prices. This allows funds for social improvement over there. We support causes here in the US too, local ones around our factory and other ones too.Â
InclusionÂ
Our Founder said that his goal was to make Tea an everyday luxury. He did not say how you should drink it. So, if you want to drink Earl Grey in the morning, I would not, but you enjoy it. If you want to call chamomile a âteaâ, please do. As a Tea Taster, I would rather call it is tisane, but you do you! We thank our valued employees; we would not be here if they did not work tirelessly to keep you happy. They are like a family to Paul & I. The most important group for us to include is you. Without all of you, we would not have grown from Johnâs basement to where we are today.Â
Thanks for making our lifeâs work so rewarding!
Best wishes to you all.
