Enjoy the ultimate refreshment this summer with these DIY tea slushie recipes.

Love iced tea on a hot summer day? Have you ever thought about turning that iced tea into a slushie? That’s right. We’re talking delicious, ice-cold iced tea slushies. It’s like being a kid again, but better.

You can find iced tea slushies out and about, but we highly recommend you save your money for an overpriced tea slushie and make your own at home. We’ve got some great recipes to share, and the other beautiful thing is you can always concoct your very own! 

Let’s make some tea slushies!

 

The Basics of What You’ll Need

While each recipe varies, here are some basics you’ll want to have on hand to get your tea slushie party started.

 

  • Tea. We recommend using one of our  Fresh Brew Iced Teas as a base. They come in 13 varieties so you can experiment to your heart’s content.
  • Ice cube trays
  • Blender
  • Fresh fruit of your choice
  • Tall glass
  • Straws
  • Alcohol of your choice, if you want to make an alcoholic tea slushie
  • Your imagination! 

Here are some recipes to try or use for inspiration.

 

Southern Sweet Tea Slushie

(serves 4)

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Brew your tea and add sweetener to taste
  2. Fill 2 ice cube trays with sweet tea and freeze overnight or for at least 4 hours.
  3. Fill a blender with the frozen sweet tea ice cubes.
  4. Add the lemon juice and remaining sweet tea (about 2 cups) and blend for 30 seconds or until all the ice is crushed.
  5. Place the sweet tea mixture in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to get a real slushy consistency.
  6. Stir and pour into your serving glasses. Garnish with lemon wheels and a strawberry.

 

Strawberry Iced Tea Slushie

(serves 6) 

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Bring 4 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat and add the tea pouch. Let steep, stirring twice, for 4 minutes. Discard the tea and let cool.
  2. In a blender, puree half the strawberries, 2 cups tea and 1 cup ice until smooth. Transfer to 3 glasses.
  3. Repeat with remaining strawberries, tea and ice

  

Peach Tea Slushie

(serves 4) 

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Brew tea according to package instructions. Sweeten tea to taste and let cool.
  2. Add 2 cups frozen peaches and 1 cup peach tea to a blender. Blend until thick.
  3. Add another cup of tea to the blender. Blend until smooth and slushie.
  4. Pour into two glasses. Repeat the process for two more glasses.

 

Mango Tea Slushie

(serves 3)

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Steep 3 tablespoons of tea in boiling water for 10 minutes.
  2. Strain tea and add sweetener, if desired. Pour tea into blender. Add the juice of one lemon and vodka, if desired.
  3. Add 3 cups of ice.
  4. Blend on high until slushy.
  5. Pour into glasses and garnish with fresh berries and/or a spring of mint.

  

Passion Fruit Tea Slushie

(serves 6; serving size 2/3 cup)

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Pour cooled tea into an 8-inch square glass or ceramic baking dish.
  2. Cover and freeze 1 hour or until slushy. Remove from freezer.
  3. Combine tea, ice and sugar in a blender. Process until smooth.
  4. Garnish with a star fruit slice.

 

Rhubarb Green Tea Slushie

(serves 3 – a truly vibrant color!) 

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Add cherries, chopped rhubarb and sugar to a saucepan.
  2. Cook on low for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until the rhubarb is soft and tender. Do not boil or scorch the bottom of the pan.
  3. Meanwhile, make your green tea according to package directions.
  4. Add the rhubarb cherry mixture to a blender and puree.
  5. Remove the tea bags from the tea and add 1 quart of the tea to the blender and mix.
  6. Place the beverage in the freezer for 4-6 hours until it becomes slushy, or freeze overnight and blend the frozen mixture before serving. (If you freeze the drink overnight, let it sit out on the counter for about an hour before trying to blend.)
  7. Garnish with some mint leaves or rhubarb stalks if desired and enjoy.

 


 

Iced Tea and Brandy Slush

(serves 4)

Ingredients:

  • 2 C sugar
  • Earl Grey tea bags
  • 12 oz. frozen orange juice
  • 12 oz. frozen lemonade
  • 2 C brandy
  • 7-Up (diet or regular)

Instructions:

  1. Combine 7 cups water and 2 cups sugar. Boil and let cool.
  2. Separately, boil 2 cups water. Remove from heat and add 4 tea bags. Let cool, then squeeze out the tea bags and remove them.
  3. Combine the two mixtures above and add the frozen orange juice, frozen lemonade and brandy. Put in the freezer until mixture is slushy.
  4. Pour into glasses and add 7-Up.
