Par-Tea Time! 5 Memorial Day Recipes

Ahh, Memorial Day weekend! A time to gather with family and friends to remember and honor those whom we’ve loved and lost, celebrating their lives and the beginning of summer.

Whether it’s a backyard barbeque, a picnic or a festive pitch-in, surprise and delight your co-revelers with one (or more) of these tea-inspired recipes. Give us your feedback in the comment section, we’d love to hear what you think.

  1. Tea-Brined and Double-Fried Hot Chicken

While it’s enjoyed around the world, there’s something about fried chicken that feels uniquely American and perfect for Memorial Day. Take a classic up a notch with this tea-inspired recipe. Start with our Fresh Brew Organic Iced Tea, and end up with some finger-lickin’ goodness.

  1. Tea Rub and BBQ Sauce

Our Harney & Sons teas are so good, we can’t help but rub it in…to some meat! Think all rubs are the same? Think again.

  1. White Peach Coconut Matcha Ice Cream

This dairy-free delight is so refreshing, your stress will melt away faster than the ice cream.

  1. Brandy Slush

This tea-infused cocktail is made for long, lazy summer days. Make it the way you like it—we went with our Peaches & Ginger black tea, but you can go with a classic Earl Grey or a Moroccan Mint, whatever floats your brandy slush boat.

  1. Lemony Gunpowder Butter

We love the sharp, robust, charred flavor of this tea with its hint of lemon. And we get downright giddy about it as a butter, melted on a warm ear of corn. If you agree, get adventurous and make tea butter out of your other favorite flavors.

Directions:

  1. Let unsalted butter sit at room temperature until very soft.
  2. Mix the butter with our Lemony Gunpowder tea leaves (either whole or ground, your choice; ground tea will change the color of the butter, while leaves will give it a more artsy look).
  3. Shape the butter into a log and cover in plastic wrap, or place in a dish and cover.
  4. Store in the fridge to firm back up, or keep it soft and slather it on something slather-worthy.
