How to Make a Mint Tea Julep

This year, we decided to put a twist on the classic Mint Julep and create a Mint Tea Julep using one of our Peppermint Herbal tea. Keep reading to learn how you can make this for your upcoming derby party.

Place your bets, ladies and gents! Derby Day is upon us and we’re ready for a Mint Julep. This year, we decided to put a twist on the classic we love so much and create a Mint Tea Julep using one of our most popular flavors of tea, Peppermint Herbal. This cocktail is extremely refreshing and will look great with those seersucker pants or sunhat you’ve been saving for the big day. Keep reading for a list of ingredients and to learn how you can make this for your upcoming derby party.

What You Need

For Iced Peppermint Herbal Tea
4 Peppermint Herbal Tea bags
16 oz of water
Ice

For Cocktail
4 oz iced Peppermint Herbal Tea
2 oz bourbon
1 oz Simple Syrup
3–5 leaves fresh mint
Ice

How to Make a Mint Tea Julep

  • Boil water. Remove from heat and steep tea bags for 8 minutes.
  • Fill a pitcher with ice. Pour hot tea over ice and chill until you’re ready to use.
  • Place mint leaves in the bottom of a glass. Using a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon press the mint leaves into the bottom of the glass.
  • Add simple syrup, bourbon and tea. Top with ice and mint garnish.
