Mike's Tea Ratings

Briskness Body Aroma
Our Review
Our Founder, John Harney, thinks very fondly of Elaine Cogan of Portland, Oregon. They were both tea enthusiasts in the early '80s, throwing bombs against the established order of boring tea served poorly. Decades later, he asked her to do a tea. This is the refreshing result.
Dry Leaves The Ceylon and Darjeeling provide some hints of green and gold in this blend of black teas.
Liquor A medium brown liquor.
Aroma The muted notes of cocoa, honey, citrus and malt combine for a mellow tea.
Caffeine Level Caffeinated
Body A smooth bodied tea.
Flavors The fours teas: Darjeeling, Assam, Keemun and Ceylon, combine to a smooth tea that is refreshing at any time. Try it with a splash of milk.
Brewing Time 4 to 5 minutes
Brewing Temperature 212° F

Elaine's Blend

Little did Elaine Cogan realize she was launching the tea revolution when her complaints about the poor quality of restaurant tea were printed in the New York Times in 1983. In response the Times printed an editorial entitled Tea Snobs and Coffee Bigots. John Harney and Elaine became friends, as they spread the word about good tea. They are suprised and gratified at the success of the tea revolution. Elaine created her own Special Blend, a smooth tea that is refreshing all times of day or night. It is a unique combination of fine Darjeeling, Keemun, Ceylon and Assam.

A Satisfying, Affordable, & Elegant Blend
Average Review:

This tea blend always provides a satisfying cup at an affordable price, and for a blend, it also has some elegance about it. --A fine everyday tea, that I turn to many mornings of the week.

Inoffensive
Average Review:

Wanted to love this tea because anyone who helped bring better quality and greater diversity to the world of American tea deserves praise. I found the tea inoffensive, but not distinguished. It is a PG Tips caliber tea, which isn't a bad thing, but not at this price.
