Description
Harney & Sons Earl Grey is a black tea from India and China, scented with natural oil of bergamot from Italy. It is the classic version of the cup, brisk and traditional, with a little oolong blended in to lighten it.
Medium in body, its bergamot is gentler than our Supreme, so the black tea still leads. Drink it on its own, or with milk and sugar the way many people first came to it.

Mike Harney's Ratings
Earl Grey is one of the teas that made flavored blends part of the English table, and we wanted ours to be the honest, traditional cup. We keep the bergamot gentle so the black tea from India and China still comes through, brisk and full the way an Earl Grey should be.

Me and the roommate have been making London Fogs with this every morning.
I brew it for ice tea.
This tea harnesses the strength of black tea with a spritely sprinkle of citrus.
Four Decades of Tradition
Three generations later, we still follow his one rule: only buy and blend teas that make us smile. Today we blend more than 300 of them from a home base in Millerton, New York, where the third generation is adding blends of its own.

How to Enjoy It
Earl Grey is the classic, brisker than our Supreme and all the more traditional for it. Here is how we make it when we want it at its best.
Water
Start with fresh spring or filtered water. It's nearly everything in the cup, and even a tea this bold takes on whatever's in the tap.
Hot
With its black tea base, you'll want to use boiling water (212ºF). Steep 5 minutes so the bergamot and citrus have room to come forward.
- 1 sachet per 12 oz mug
- 1 teabag per 8 oz cup
- 1 teaspoon loose (2.5 g) per 8 oz cup
Iced
Brew it double strength, twice the tea for the same water, then pour straight over a tall glass of ice. The bergamot stays clear as it dilutes instead of fading out.
