Thanksgiving is, of course, a time when being grateful for all things big and small in our lives is more top of mind. The first thing we’re always grateful for is the opportunity to be reminded of the people we are lucky to have in our lives and who seem to love us no matter the times that we are not at our most lovable!
In addition to those obvious things, like family, friends, pets, homes, jobs, health, and the ability to help others who need help from time to time, we would be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to talk about some reasons why we’re grateful for tea! Hopefully, you feel the same way!
1. Tea offers a daily oasis.
In a world that is always rush rush rush, stopping to steep a mug of tea offers a few minutes of slowing down. It allows us to breathe and feel calm. Many tea drinkers mention how the mere act of making a cuppa is relaxing and helps to reduce stress and regain focus. Adding a slice of pumpkin bread, a biscotti, or cookie ups the endorphin ante as well!
2. Tea provides healthful benefits.
From the antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties everyone loves in white and green teas, to the digestive benefits of teas like peppermint, ginger, chamomile, and lemon, to the many wellness benefits in teas containing turmeric, cinnamon, coconut, moringa, and so much more. Teas with fruit also help provide an added boost to your overall wellness routine. Sharing tea with others is an invitation to sit and stay awhile, to catch up, reconnect, share stories, laughter, and even tears (tea and sympathy, it’s a thing). There’s just something about tea that creates an atmosphere of community. We think you know what we mean.
4. Tea inspires memories.
Whether it’s making tea every Sunday with your grandmother, having tea parties as a child, or that time you and your friends got dressed up and had afternoon tea at the Ritz, many people have memories that center around tea. Maybe it was the thrill of experiencing a true Japanese tea ceremony or the first time you tried matcha or having your tea leaves read…whatever your tea memory is, it’s clear that tea is unique in the role it plays in so many lives. And if you’re British, “a spot of tea” likely made everything better at some memorable point in your life!
5. Tea makes for endless puns!
You may or may not have noticed, but we use plentea of tea puns! We simply can’t go t-oolong without making one. They make us and others laugh – and, we suspect, some to groan – but we’re grateful that “tea” is easier to have fun with than “coffee.” We’d be stuck with “bean there, done that” if we were a coffee company, but thankfully tea offers so matcha more! We’re steeply sorry if our tea jokes offend; we chai very hard to make everyone happy!

New guidelines published inAdvances in Nutrition have extrapolated data from published research to form dietary recommendations for flavan-3-ol intake. This research and guidance is the culmination of a collaboration between the Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Science, an international expert panel and The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to release recommendations for specific quantities of flavan-3-ols to consume daily to reap health benefits.
