Our Review
The Harneys, being of Irish heritage, did not offer a Scottish tea until now. Our friends at the American-Scottish Foundation asked us to do two teas. Our first attempt was a strong tea. They said it was nice, but please make it a wee bit stronger.
Dry Leaves A mixture of dark brown leaves, the smaller pieces of Assam and Ceylon and Assam CTC (cut, tear, curl) method make for a stronger tea.
Liquor This is one of our darkest teas, brewing a very dark brown color. Many Scots would lighten it with milk.
Aroma Aroma is not the point of this tea, so there are only hints of suggestions of malt.
Caffeine Level Caffeinated
Body This is the purpose of this tea, and it delivers a very full bodied tea. It is perhaps the strongest tea we offer.
Flavors Strong and simple, this tea is meant to be drunk with milk.
Brewing Time 5 minutes
Brewing Temperature 212° F

Scottish Morn

Scottish Morn is a strong tea, perhaps our very strongest. When you stand up your spoon in this tea, it might just stand straight. A portion of Scottish Morn & Scottish Afternoon sales goes to support the charitable endeavors of the American-Scottish Foundation®.

Love it!
Average Review:

I was drinking too much coffee and having trouble sleeping, so this past winter I spent some time at this site and read the reviews of various black teas. The Scottish Morn has now replaced my morning cup of coffee. I brew it for 5 minutes in a mesh ball and then add a cube of demerara sugar and a bit of milk. I am not a tea connoisseur, so I don't have a detailed description of the flavor. To me it's very flavorful, but smooth and not bitter. I still drink some coffee, but Scottish Morn is a great first cup in the morning. I am having less trouble sleeping.

Great Cousin to Irish Breakfast
Average Review:

Harney’s Irish Breakfast is their flagship tea for me. How nice it was to experience this wonderful cousin! It’s color and flavor profile are very similar to Irish Breakfast, but different. It’s hard to nail down any particular flavor. It tastes like tea should taste! It has a nice, rich body. We use a mesh tea ball for this as it is a smaller product and it leaves a little more “mud” in the bottom of the cup when compared to Irish Breakfast, but nothing like Scottish Afternoon tea. All in all, I still prefer Irish Breakfast, but this certainly isn’t any worse. It’s really good and I can imagine that this would be my flagship tea had I tried it first! Like all of Harney’s fine teas, this one is well worth the money and is worthy of being served to family, friends, and special guests alike!

New favorite breakfast tea
Average Review:

I usually drink lighter black teas or green teas so I wasn't sure if I would like this tea. I absolutely love this tea. It has a wonderful full body, flavor, and is strong enough to wake you up in the morning. I recently had to stop drinking coffee in the morning because it hurts my stomach. This is my new replacement for coffee. It almost has a coffee like flavor to me. Now I don't miss coffee as much! As always, Harney & Sons quality is fantastic.
