Over ten nights, a small group hosted by Emeric Harney and Rob Russotti (pictured above with local tea suppliers) will travel from Tokyo to the imperial capital of Kyoto and back again. Visit famous tea producing destinations like Uji, Wazuka, Shizuoka and Kakegawa. In each place you’ll meet with friends of the Harneys to visit their tea farms and processing facilities, get to know them and learn about the people, tea and culture of this fascinating island nation.

You’ll visit at the beginning of the first tea harvest, known as shincha, it’s the perfect time for tea lovers to go to Japan to try the perfectly delicate newly picked tea. You will explore Japan from the tea fields to the skyscrapers, the Imperial Gardens of Tokyo to the matcha factories of Uji.

What a wonderful trip! I am confident this will be an absolute joy to go on. I had the pleasure of visiting Japan when I was in high school in 1996. My language high school had a sister school in Iwate Prefecture, and we co-hosted students ourselves all four years of high school. Being able to visit myself was such a privilege. Recently at The Midwest Tea Fest, we were just speaking on this subject of touring tea plantations, especially Japan, Nepal, and Taiwan.

I’ve always wanted to visit Japan, avoiding Tokyo and spending much time in Kyoto and Hokkaido. I’ll follow your blog with interest!
