Our Review
English Breakfast Tea was never designed or formulated all those years ago. Rather, teas were chosen that were plentiful and not too expensive, and that would taste good with milk and sugar. Something an English person would enjoy at the start of a busy day. So in the early 1800s, that tea would have been a black tea from China, and this is where we take our inspiration. Later on, many Brits drank the brisker teas from the British colonies of India and Ceylon. After the Second World War, when the colonies became independent, the source of English Breakfast for the British became Africa. We do have some blends that are inspired by these regions, however this English Breakfast, like the original, is Chinese black tea.
Dry Leaves Our English Breakfast is different from many others, as it has short charcoal gray leaves.
Liquor Dark brown.
Aroma There is a toasty aroma.
Caffeine Level Caffeinated
Body Medium-full bodied.
Flavors Straightforward with hints of toast and honey.
Brewing Time 4 to 5 minutes
Brewing Temperature 212° F

English Breakfast

There are many versions of English Breakfast tea. Ours has an ancient pedigree. Researchers have traced its heritage back to the black tea the English drank regularly in the 1800's. It is, simply, China Black – 100% Keemun. A simple way to start your hectic day! Kosher.

No decaf options?
Average Review:

I am a big fan of Harney & Sons teas and I introduce them to any an all tea drinkers I know. I don't understand why there still isn't a decaf option for your English Breakfast tea. Sometimes, I want this great flavor without a jolt of caffeine. Please consider offering this in the near future.

Tea for Summer and Winter
Average Review:

I first tried this tea from a sample I found in my tea drawer. I have never heard of Harney's and Son's before and when I brewed it, ooooohhh boy. Was I in for a ride!
To make it short and simple, I have not found a tea that top's Harney's and Son's!
